How the price is calculated

How the daily gold price is determined

The live price shown above is updated several times per minute from reliable market sources for gold, silver, platinum and palladium. We convert the international spot price into euros per gram and apply our transparent buying and selling margin — you can see the spread between buy (Bid) and sell (Ask) directly in the ticker.

For your individual piece, the rule is: Tageskurs × Feingehalt × Gewicht = Materialwert. The buying price deducts our margin from this, while the selling price adds it on. Use our Altgold-Rechner to get an instant guide price for your pieces.

Frequently asked

About the gold price

How prices are formed, why a spread exists, and what a margin actually means.

  • How often is the gold price updated?

Our live prices are pulled minute-by-minute from reliable market sources and shown after applying our current margin. The buy and sell price per gram are always visible.

  • Which karat grades do you trade?

We trade every common karat: 333 (8 kt), 585 (14 kt), 750 (18 kt), 916 (22 kt) and 999 (24 kt / fine gold). The buy-in price is calculated from the pure fine-gold content multiplied by the daily rate.

  • Why is the buy price different from the sell price?

Just like any exchange there's a spread between buy (bid) and sell (ask). At Zerin Gold we disclose the margin openly — it covers testing, refining and market risk.
